Our Story
What began as caring for a few beloved animals grew into a lifelong mission rooted in compassion, responsibility, and love.
Cane-9 Rescue & Sanctuary was founded on years of hands-on experience caring for English Bulldogs—a breed known for its big hearts, unique personalities, and special medical needs. Through fostering and lifelong care of Bulldogs as personal pets, we developed a deep understanding of the breed's challenges, including common health conditions that require attentive, knowledgeable support.
That experience naturally grew into rescue work. While Bulldogs remain a primary focus of our mission, we welcome dogs of all breeds who need safety, care, and a second chance. Many of the dogs who come to us require medical attention, patience, and time to heal—needs we are committed to meeting without hesitation.
Over the years, our rescue has also become a place of refuge for other animals in need, including horses, goats, chickens, and ducks—each one cared for with the same compassion and respect that guide our work with dogs.
As our efforts expanded, so did our vision. We recognized the need for more than temporary shelter—we needed a true sanctuary. A place where animals could recover, feel secure, and live with space, structure, and calm.
That vision is now becoming reality. We've secured a spacious property with secure fencing, open land, and a dedicated facility currently under construction. This environment allows us to provide individualized care, support recovery, and give every animal—especially those with special needs—the room they deserve to thrive.
Everything we do is guided by empathy, hands-on care, and the belief that second chances can change lives.
